Palm Springs Art Museum Scholarship Criteria

Palm Springs Art Museum creates transformative experiences that expand our understanding of ourselves and the world. Our collections, exhibitions, and programs connect people to the art and culture of our community and time. We foster and inspire reflection and renewal for local, national, and global audiences.

The museum offers scholarships to graduating seniors from any public or private high school in the Coachella Valley pursuing the Visual and/or Performing Arts in college. Scholarships are offered through the Georgia Fogelson Scholarship Fund and through the Museum Associates Council.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a Palm Springs Art Museum Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be a graduating senior from a high school in the Coachella Valley.
  • You must be pursuing the Visual and/or Performing Arts as a major in college.
  • You or your parents must be permanent residents of the Coachella Valley for the past three (3) consecutive years.
  • You must have attended a California high school for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years and graduated or completed a GED in the state of California.
  • You must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 2nd priority deadline: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you are ineligible to complete the FAFSA, you must complete the California Student Aid Commission's (CSAC) financial aid application: www.calgrants.org.
  • You must demonstrate financial need (as identified by academic institutions and FAFSA of CSAC).
  • You must be pursuing your first Bachelor's or Associate's degree at a non-profit accredited college, university, or academic institution in the U.S.
  • You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA or above and maintain full-time enrollment and good academic standing throughout the academic year (as defined by academic institutions). Third and fourth year college students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or above and maintain full-time enrollment and good academic standing throughout the academic year (as defined by academic institutions).
  • You will be given preference if you have had previous involvement in college preparation program(s), demonstrate community leadership, have been involved in a career pathway program(s), and are first in family or first generation to attend college.
  • You must submit two (2) letters of recommendation from a professor, counselor or community leader. Letters must have been written within the past two years.
  • You must submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts.
  • You must submit a complete copy of your 2017-2018 Student Aid Report (SAR) from the FAFSA or the California Aid Report (CAR) from CSAC.
  • You will be expected to sign a contract with the Pathways to Success Scholarship and Leadership Program involving you in scheduled leadership events, mentoring, workshops, and web based interactions.
  • You must complete the Pathways to Success / College Futures Foundation information release form.

Scholarship Award Amounts

Palm Springs Art Museum is a matching partner of Coachella Valley Economic Partnership – Pathways to Success. Scholarships are available to you in one or two year increments in the following amounts, and will be matched by Pathways if financial need criteria are met.

  • Up to $2,500 for community college or university for one year
  • Up to $5,000 for community college or university for two years

Scholarship awards may be used to cover your tuition, books, and living expenses while attending college. The application deadline is Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:59PM.

Scholarship Award Amounts

The Palm Springs Art Museum has partnered with the Pathways to Success Scholarship and Leadership Program to not only focus on increasing student success in college, but also to help students increase their leadership success. Pathways to Success brings together industry leaders to share their expertise while facilitating unique networking opportunities in the process. If awarded a matching Pathways to Success scholarship, scholars will automatically be accepted into the leadership program and will be required to attend a leadership conference on the following dates:
